Baulkham Hills is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located 28 kilometers northwest of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of The Hills Shire. The suburb is bisected by Windsor Road, which runs north-south, and includes the eastern and western sections known as Old Baulkham Hills and New Baulkham Hills respectively. The areas were originally settled by the Darug people prior to European settlement. The name “Baulkham Hills” is derived from the toponym “Booroondara”, which was suggested by Surveyor General John Oxley when he surveyed the area in 1819. However, it was not until 1856 that the area was officially named “Baulkham Hills”. Today, Baulkham Hills is a thriving suburb with a population of over 24,000 people.
