So here’s the context.  You want to open multiple files at once with a Program like Photoshop.  Sure, if Photoshop was the default program for opening images you’d be able to select them all, right click and choose Open.  The thing is, setting a resource-hungry program like Photoshop as the default for opening up every image on your computer would soon drive you nuts and because you selected multiple files, the Open With option is not available.  So what do you do?

First Step

Create a new shortcut to the app.  There are plenty of ways you can do this – here’s just one:

1. Open the Start Menu.
2. Navigate to the Apps list.
3. Locate the app you want to work with and drag & drop its tile onto your desktop to create a shortcut.
4. Right-click on the newly created shortcut and select “Properties” from the context menu.
5. A window will appear. Click on the “Shortcut” tab.
6. In the target field, simply append this switch at the end of the path: /a
7. Click “Apply”

Ok, now we need to add this shortcut to the “Send to” context menu

Open up File Explorer and copy this in to the bar up the top and hit enter.

%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo

Move the newly created short cut in to this folder and you’re done.  Now simply select your files again and choose Send to > The new shortcut and watch the magic happen.  If you’re on Windows 11 and cant’ see send to you’ll need to choose Show More Options first
