Symptom

When connected via HTTPS and attempting to playback video recording using the Synology DSCAM IOS Application on an iPhone the following error is displayed:

“An unknown error has occured.  This may be caused by an untrusted certificate.  Please install a trusted certificate on your Synology NAS and play again”

Cause

Apple’s IOS doesn’t trust the self installed certificate on the Synology Diskstation

Resolution

Install a trusted certificate or turn on “Play Video over HTTP” in the settings on the DSCAM app.

To turn on “Play Video Over HTTP”

Step 1

Click on the three bars up the top and then click on the gear icon

Step 2

Under “Video Settings” turn on “Play Video over HTTP” and choose the HTTP port which you have set up your Diskstation for.
