{"id":616,"date":"2016-04-11T09:35:43","date_gmt":"2016-04-10T22:35:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/?post_type=article&#038;p=616"},"modified":"2016-04-11T09:36:23","modified_gmt":"2016-04-10T22:36:23","slug":"outlook-2011-for-mac-wont-start-opens-and-closes","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/article\/outlook-2011-for-mac-wont-start-opens-and-closes\/","title":{"rendered":"Outlook 2011 for Mac Won&#8217;t Start (Opens and Closes)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Symptoms<\/h2>\n<p>When you click on the Outlook 2011 Icon in your dock or via\u00a0the Launchpad Outlook will indicate that is opening and then it will close immediately. \u00a0Restarting the computer has no effect. \u00a0Typically this may happen if your Mac has frozen whilst Outlook was running or didn&#8217;t shut down properly.<\/p>\n<h2>Resolution<\/h2>\n<p>To resolve this issue you may need to rebuild the Outlook Profile (Identity). \u00a0To do this:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Hold down the <strong>ALT<\/strong> key<\/li>\n<li>Click on the Outlook Icon<\/li>\n<li>Select your Main Identity<\/li>\n<li>Click on Rebuild<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Rebuild-Outlook-2011-Identity.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-617\"><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-617\" data-original=\"https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Rebuild-Outlook-2011-Identity.png\" alt=\"Rebuild Outlook 2011 Identity\" width=\"529\" height=\"377\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After Outlook has gone through this process you should be able to open Outlook 2011 again.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Applies to: OSX Mavericks, Yosemite, EL Capitan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>Please Note: This is a \u201cQUICK SUPPORT\u201d article.
