In this article we are going to show you how to take a screenshot<\/strong> (or parts of the screen) in Windows 7 and Windows 8 using the built in Snipping Tool. \u00a0You can use the Snipping Tool<\/strong> in all version except the Starter and Basic Editions.<\/p>\n

Step 1. Open the Snipping Tool<\/h2>\n

Windows 7<\/strong> <\/span>– Click on Start<\/strong>, Select All Programs<\/strong>, Select Accessories<\/strong> and then Select Snipping Tool<\/strong><\/p>\n

Windows 8<\/strong><\/span> – Press the Windows Key<\/strong>, start typing Snipping Tool<\/strong> and select it on the right hand side from the search results.<\/p>\n

Step 2. Choose the Type of Snip<\/h2>\n

Clicking on the drop down arrow<\/strong> next to New<\/strong> you can choose the type of Screenshot you wish to make.<\/p>\n

Free-Form Snip<\/strong> – Once you have selected this simply hold down your mouse and draw a line around what you want to take a screenshot of.<\/p>\n

Rectangular Snip<\/strong> – Click in the top left hand corner of what you want to take a screenshot of and drag right and down. \u00a0Release.<\/p>\n

Windows Snip<\/strong> – Click inside the window or program you wish to take a screenshot of.<\/p>\n

Full-Screen Snip<\/strong> – As soon as you select this it will take a screenshot of your whole screen<\/p>\n

Step 3. Save or Send your Screenshot<\/h2>\n

From the screenshot which is taken click on File<\/strong>. \u00a0You can then choose either Save as<\/strong> to save the file to your computer or Send To<\/strong> and email it to someone.<\/p>\n
