{"id":225,"date":"2015-06-15T05:42:09","date_gmt":"2015-06-14T18:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/?post_type=article&#038;p=225"},"modified":"2022-11-14T20:05:42","modified_gmt":"2022-11-14T09:05:42","slug":"yoast-seo-cant-remove-sitename-at-the-end-of-the-title","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/article\/yoast-seo-cant-remove-sitename-at-the-end-of-the-title\/","title":{"rendered":"Yoast SEO Can&#8217;t remove Sitename at the End of the Title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;re adjusting your Yoast SEO Settings and you find that no matter what you do your SEO title is showing at the end this is to do with your WordPress Theme and not a faulty within Yoast SEO. \u00a0What you will find is that your sitename has been hardcoded in to your WordPress theme.<\/p>\n<p>Essentially what you will need to do is open up the header file in WordPress and search for the following text and remove it:<\/p>\n<p><code>&lt;?php bloginfo( 'name' ); ?&gt;<\/code><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re not familiar with WordPress themes here are some basic instructions. \u00a0Please bear in mind that this would be better of removed from a child theme rather than the parent theme itself as if there are any theme updates which you apply the changes will be lost and you will have to do it again.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 1<\/h2>\n<p>On your WordPress dashboard open up the theme editor by clicking on Appearance and then Editor<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Wordpress-Theme-Editor.png\"><img class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-226\" data-original=\"https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Wordpress-Theme-Editor.png\" alt=\"Wordpress-Theme-Editor\" width=\"357\" height=\"311\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Step 2<\/h2>\n<p>On the right hand side scroll down to your header.php file<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Wordpress-Header.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-227\" src=\"https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Wordpress-Header.png\" alt=\"Wordpress-Header\" width=\"305\" height=\"335\" srcset=\"https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Wordpress-Header.png 305w, https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Wordpress-Header-273x300.png 273w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 305px) 100vw, 305px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Step 3<\/h2>\n<p>Click on search in your browser. \u00a0If using windows it should be <strong>CTRL + F<\/strong> or Mac &#8211; <strong>Command + F<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Paste in this test and find<\/p>\n<p><code>&lt;?php bloginfo( 'name' ); ?&gt;<\/code><\/p>\n<h2>Step 4<\/h2>\n<p>Delete the text it finds and click on Update File. \u00a0Before deleting please check that the text you are deleting is only in between the wp_title tags &#8211; see image below.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/WP-Title.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-228\" src=\"https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/WP-Title.png\" alt=\"WP Title\" width=\"494\" height=\"113\" srcset=\"https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/WP-Title.png 494w, https:\/\/4it.com.au\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/WP-Title-300x69.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 494px) 100vw, 494px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Please Note<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>If you do this in any other part of the theme it may have undesired consequences. \u00a0If in doubt, please take a backup of the file before you modify it. \u00a0This can easily be done by selecting all, copying and pasting in to a text document before making changes. \u00a0This way if you&#8217;ve deleted something you shouldn&#8217;t have it is easy to paste all the original code back in.<\/em><\/p>\n<div style='text-align:left' class='yasr-auto-insert-visitor'><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;re adjusting your Yoast SEO Settings and you find that no matter what you do your SEO title is showing at the end this is to do with your WordPress Theme and not a faulty within Yoast SEO. \u00a0What you will find is that your sitename has been hardcoded in to your WordPress theme.
